March 2018: Dungeon Deposed released, and where are we?

Good morning everyone,

Dungeon Deposed is now... available.

Time for me to ask you for help. If you read or buy the book, please consider leaving a review. :)
And if you're willing to do that, maybe share it, like it, or just tell others.

This is the big one. If this book does well, it'll justify going full time. Making being an author an actual job, and not working the dayjob.

Here's hoping.

You can pick the new book here: (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B07B4VYMJZ)

Where are we otherwise? We're already 50% of the way through a new Darren novel! After that, i'm not sure where we're going.

On the books is still Wild Wastes 3 this year, as is Super Sales on Super Heroes 3.

Haven't heard any news on Super Sales on Super Sales 2 Audibook, other than Nick Podehl posted on his facebook that he's working on it.

  2. *mild spoilers*

Just finished Dungeon Deposed, I enjoyed it a lot! It was fun, though I feel like the first two chapters are poorly written and the rest of the book is 4/5 but the first two chapters are like 2/5. The dialogue in those bits were poorly written and his motivation was pretty meh, I get he’s got an anger problem and is blowing things out of proportion but even with that his raison d’etre seems meh, would have been ok if it was more serious like them stealing his money or leaving him to die in the dungeon or something.

    1. So... that's actually the whole point.

His revenge is... petty. Childlike. Infantile. :)

    2. Thx for replying, and I get what you’re going for I suppose. Though I still think the dialogue in the first 2 chapters are cringe-y, his motives not withstanding, but great work can’t wait for the next one, but I suppose that’s gonna be next year at the earliest?

  3. Really excited for the 3rd installments of Wild Wastes and Super Sales. Will those both be the last books in those series? Or will they only be the 3rd installments in the ever growing storylines?

    1. Also looking forward to next installment in those two series.

    2. I’m also looking forward to them. They are a cool spin on the hero/anti hero idea with slaves who get a chance at a decent (better then normal) live

    3. To be honest the whole slavery thing is blown out of proportion at this point the company doesn’t really depend on slavery anymore, and felix is definitely the most interesting character of the other life multiverse, maybe riker too, he’s funny and a bit of an asshole.

    4. SS and WW will both have a book 3, and that'll close the trilogy for both.

Will it be the last of them? Probably not.

As to the multi-verse... do tell me your theories. I'm ever curious of what you all have discovered.

      Or believe you have. :)

    5. Well we know portals exist from otherlife and Runner opening them. In SS2 the god entity was clearly Runner comfortable with his AI brain pal. In SS2 there were Gods acting too clearly within Laws of Otherlife Deity laws, though I’m not sure why the frost god didn’t get a backlash when she attacked mortals like Amelia did.

Nway, my conclusion is Riker, Felix, and that WW guy are all in different GMHub’s made by Runner with his plan to repopulate humanity. Also the backstory of all 3 of them are eerily similar, special people with power sets clearly out of norm all abandoned by people they grew up with, both WW guy and Felix’s guardians just disappeared wouldn’t be surprised to learn there’s more going on with Rikers folks too. I think that they are the test tube babies he made by combining genetic material of the brain dead people and their guardians are either Runners shipmates given a second chance or Natives. The reason they left is either because they were players and don’t age so had to leave to prevent suspicion or they decided to live to help them mature etc.

Also clearly Otherlife was based on Earth, WW is on Earth, SS home plant is named Earth. Next is the fact that fantasy species suddenly appeared no one knowing how. So it’s pretty obvious that Runner let his imagination go wild and made many many what if scenarios.

  4. I have not read any of Otherlife, so this is all new on me. I did find the comments interesting. I look forward to seeing if the theory holds true. If so, I may have to pick up Otherlife and read it.

  5. I couldn't put this down, read the preview and couldn't wait (like I usually do) for the audio book before I dug in on kindle.

The petty hangup for revenge the main character holds on to was wonderful, he seethes, questions it, still emotionally burns for it, and holds on. People don't change overnight and with or without gaining great power he holds on to his character flaws, I really enjoyed the hell out of this one.

If you were testing the waters with DD then I really hope others enjoy it as much as I did.

(P.S. Why no Jeff Hays on SSoSH 2, schedule conflict?)

  9. Fantastic book!! I love all your work!
    **minor spoilers**

“Runner is watching.” As the closing line after the prologue and after thought, WHAT!!! I thought we were just popping little Easter eggs here and there or homages to other books, but after reading some comments and this last sentence, and seeing your comment on a shared universe, I NEED ANOTHER BOOK!!! A book that’s ties literally everything together after the three trilogies (four of you count DD?) gahh!!! I just want answers!! So good!!!

It'll be a while before you get your answers clarified. Eventually.

    2. In the meantime, if you want a good Shared universe, check out Sanderson's cosmere collection...I like SS on SH, but the Cosmere is world building on an epic level.

  11. Super good read. I can not wait for more of this bi polar dungeon lord. My theory is this takes place in otherlife world. The dark lord could be "Running" things behind the scenes here.

  12. How do I become a beta reader? I love super sales and wild wastes. I've listened to the audios a few times while at work.

  13. Loved Dungeon Deposed, that's the first of your books I've listened to and I cant wait for more in that world. In the meanwhile I'll just have to get your other books to tide me over. :)
